Alive

This is as close as I will ever get to a live wild bird. This one hit one of my windows and after consulting friends and books I found out it's a Common Cuckoo. I always thought all of them as grey. We hear them a lot around here butr I don't think ary of us have seen one. However this one is stuck with me until a person from the animal rescue turns up tomorrow. Ofcourse there are no insects around when I need them...

poor little thing probably saw stars when it flew into the window.
I'm really liking the profile pic with the nostril flared.

He sure is one heck of a bird, very sad that he flew into a window.

Poor little common cuckoo. I'm glad he landed at your house if he was going to crash. I hope he makes it until they pick him up.

Don't get too attached (They can't respond) He needs to be free when he recovers.

Wow, your windows must be sparkling clean for this poor bird to fly into them!,,Hope he makes a speedy recovery, great pics to remember him by.

I hope the little guy makes it! What keen and unusual eyes it has--that's what strikes me most about that bottom photo.

Hi!
He's beautiful! It's good that you have an animal rescue service there. I've never seen a cuckoo before. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day!

That is a pretty bird with nice details up close. Nothing common about him to me!

Sometimes the birds that hit our windows are just dazed for a short bit, then regain their composure and take off. Hope this is the case here. Thanks for being concerned for him!

What a beautiful feather pattern--very uncommon, I think! I guess we have an excuse now not to wash the windows...in the interest of avian safety! Hope he makes it! I buried several juncos and finches this spring that collided with my windows.

Nice close up, especially the bottom shot. I like the orange in his mouth and those eye colors!

I'm catching up, you got such great detail in this certainly uncommon to me bird. Have you heard back?
